Ok, this one just kind of struck me as funny yet oddly poignent. LOL
I pick the kids up at daycare on Thursday. Aidan had had a particularly bad day, not listening, running amok, all that, so of course, she gets punishment. Which then sets off the obligatory, incindiary Aidan Fit. So she's strapping in to her car seat, screaming and crying like she's going straight off to San Quentin.
While I'm a sympathetic and understanding mother and feel bad that she's devastated by her current situation, I realize as well that if I try and reason with her it's just going to make it worse, so I just kind of turn up the Johnny Cash album I'm listening to and we set off down the road for home. As we're getting to the stop sign to get on the main road, "Cry, Cry Cry" comes on and Aidan gets a little quieter. Then she pipes right up after the first chorus and says "You got that right! I'm gonna CRY!" ROFLMAO!!!!!!
After I get my chuckling under control, I say "Yeah, sweetie, Johnny speaks for all of us at one time or another." To which she replies, "Well, Johnny's got it right, I'm gonna cry!". The interesting thing is after that she really didn't cry much until we got home.
So, once again, we are passing the musical legacy along to the next generation, and at the same time, proving that Johnny Cash is, indeed timeless. :D
