What to Do When Schools Have Children Arrested for School-Related Behavior Problems by Pete Wright, Esq. - Wrightslaw

So why in hell aren't they arresting the kids who are beating and torturing our kids? Or the teachers who are restraining and abusing our kids?

Sounds like some teachers have been watching too much Law and Order....

Looks like they're extending the same preferential treatment toward the bullies of disabled kids as schools do toward the bullies of regular students. Schools often side with the kids who abuse others, particularly if the student in question is popular or plays on one of the school's athletic teams.

Looking the other way or taking sides with the bully is a very common practice and is generally done for one of two reasons;
1) Bullying is viewed as 'no big deal' and a natural part of growing up
2) The popular student is a valued player and the school officials feel as if they need him or her to have a winning team.

Sadly, schools are very dangerous places these days.
